In-Flight Therapists
This is a relatively new concept that is proving extremely popular. At present only positions with Virgin Airlines on long haul flights are available, but other major airlines are expected to follow Virgin’s lead. Upper class passengers receive complementary manicures and a combination of Swedish, Pressure point and Shiatsu Massage to effectively relieve tension and jet lag. The ability to work in the confined space available on-board is important as is the personality to enable the therapist to communicate with the wide variety of passengers on-board. Recruitment age is 20-28 and applicants must have salon experience.
Day SPAS & Destination SPAS
The ability to work as part of a team is essential with this type of position. There may be more emphasis on body related treatments and as many positions tend to be residential, it is important to have tolerance, patience and adaptability.
Luxury Hotels
In today’s stressful environment, more emphasis is being placed on relaxation and leisure. Many prestigious and newly built hotels now offer health and beauty facilities. Often you will be dealing with an international, sophisticated clientele who will be well aware of the latest treatments available worldwide. They demand the highest of standards as taught at Hyde Park College of Skin, Body and SPA Therapy.
Cruise Liners
Described by some as a working holiday – albeit very hard work! It can prove to be a good way to see the world and the off duty atmosphere is quite often relaxed and informal. Mental and physical stamina, as well as the ability to work as a close team with a sense of humour
